Delivering a Down syndrome diagnosis is not an easy task. Our goal is to provide medical providers the resources needed to discuss Down syndrome in a way that is both supportive and educational.  Whether you are delivering a prenatal diagnosis, discussing possible ultrasound markers or informing parents that their newborn is showing signs of Trisomy 21, there is information available right at your fingertips.  A great place to start is the “best practices” for health care professionals delivering a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis from the American Journal of Medical Genetics.

Nebraska Down Syndrome Diagnosis Information and Support Act

In 2016 the Nebraska State legislature passed a law requiring Doctors to provide accurate, non biased information to families who receive a new diagnosis of Down syndrome.  A web page was created on the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) website that medical professionals can send families to, in order to get current information and fulfill their requirements under the law.    We were proud to work on this project, help put together the information for the web page, and monitor it to ensure the information remains current.
