Programs

Part of being a dynamic support organization means we welcome progress and change.  Progress comes much faster when our members take an active role in making the group successful.   We want to hear from you.  What programs would you like to see developed?  What past programs (from DSAA or another support agency) that you or a family member participated in were helpful? We encourage each member to participate in as many of our social functions and formal presentations as you can, to get the most out of your membership.   Please send us feedback.  Any communication you send to you will be returned within 24 hours or the next business day.  Please use the Contact Us link below to get in touch.  We look forward to meeting with you.

321 Parent to Parent

Parent to Parent program is a resource to all families regardless of the age of their family member with Down syndrome.   We provide resources and connections to other parents when there are specific needs or if a parent just needs to talk.  321 Parent to Parent is also here to help point families in the right direction for community resources that would also serve their needs.

Extended Hospital Stay Assistance

DSAA NE offers Extended Hospital Support Bags, that includes a gift card and some items to help pass the time, to any family of an individual with Down syndrome who is hospitalized for more than 48 hours. If you would like to receive an Extended Hospital Stay Support Bag, click here to complete the request form.

Peer Presentations

Inclusion is important for our kids, but often times other students don't know much about the condition.  A peer presentation on their level can help them to gain a better understanding so they can interact comfortably with a student who has Down syndrome.   We are available to help train you to do your own peer presentation, or possibly even present at your child's school.

Educational Scholarships

can be applied for by any family in the Nebraska Down syndrome community who has chosen to  connect with us and can to be used to help offset of the costs of attending a local or   national educational conference.  Scholarships will be available each calendar year until the funding budget is depleted.  To apply for a scholarship click here.

IEP Assistance

The IEP  is the document that determines how and what your child will be taught in school.  You won't want to go into that meeting unprepared.  We can give you tips and planning guides to help you make the most of your next IEP.  If moral support is what you need, we may be able to arrange for a advocate to join you at the meeting

Family Connections Webinar Series

Our family connections webinar series is a way for families to connect virtually across the state to network and learn from the comfort of their own homes.  Join our Webinar Facebook group to access webinar recordings or to ask for a virtual meeting to be held on a certain topic.  Virtual Meetings can be set up in just a matter of minutes and can last as long as needed.
If you would like to be paired with a trained parent mentor, schedule a peer presentation, or request IEP assistance, please:
