Happy Down syndrome awareness month, Day 8. Today we will be dispelling a myth. Adults with Down syndrome are not “perpetual children,” they are adults, and they happen to have Down syndrome. They are not always happy and they experience a full range of emotions. However, 97% of individuals with Down syndrome are happy with with their lives. Maybe we could learn something from that.
We have so enjoyed getting to know many adults during our Afternoon Club virtually meetings every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4pm. Mondays are just for the girls, Wednesday are just guys and Fridays are for anyone. While this club is for individuals of any age, our regular members are mostly young adults. They have some very lively conversations and enjoy many of the same things as their peers. One of the great things about getting together virtually means that anyone across the state is welcome to join us. Tomorrow at the Friday afternoon club we are going to work out together. Email us at email@example.com to request the zoom link to this event. We will visit for about 20 minutes then complete a 20 minute workout. The intensity of the workout is up to the participant. You can go all in or make it a much lighter work out.. What a great way to start the weekend and to practice and get in shape for the Big 10 Walking Challenge starting soon. We hope you can join us!
